Portuguese Foundation Centre (Centro Português de Fundações)

The Portuguese Foundation Centre (CPF), established in 1993 by leading foundations such as the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Oriente Foundation, serves as a central platform connecting foundations, state authorities, and civil society organisations in Portugal. CPF plays a vital role in nurturing the emerging community foundation field, supporting the development of locally-rooted philanthropic initiatives. It provides a networking space, offers training for organisations, maintains a comprehensive sector database, and promotes initiatives like giving circles and national convenings. Through partnerships with universities and platforms such as The Funding Network, and engagement with European networks, CPF is helping to build the identity and strengthen the impact of community foundations across Portugal.
